Last Tuesday Julie from Calo’s Closet showed off her style in a Floral Romper – my favorite romper of all time! Plus be sure to check out Julie’s full style feature on her blog! I love the way Julie paired the floral print with her big striped bag. I am all about mixing patterns and prints! The floral romper is a great airport outfit – I love how easy yet totally fashionable rompers are!
Julie’s Must-Have Pieces:
1. Fashion Sunnies in Black – Always great to have a chic pair of glasses to throw on especially when you don’t want to wear makeup on those long trips, just throw on some cute sunnies and your favorite lipstick and you are set!
2. Little Bo Pink Jumpsuit- an all in one fabulous outfit that is super comfy!
3. Pink Fast Dress – Dresses are great for vacation because they can be worn casual with some flats for a day exploring, or dressed up with some heels for dinner and a night out.
Check out Julie’s travel Q&A including tips on how she travels in style plus where she is headed next below!
What was your favorite vacation or trip? Why?
My favorite vacation was when my family and I went to Los Angeles. Los Angeles is such a beautiful place and the weather is perfect there literally ALL the time! It was so much fun exploring and seeing all that LA had to offer. We went to a fashion show at FIDM and it was so much fun! My favorite part of the trip was when we spent the day at Newport Beach taking a Segway tour and just exploring the adorable little beach town.
Who or what has inspired you to travel?
Growing up my dad was in the military so it was fun moving around to different places and getting to experience new things. I have always loved traveling and every aspect that comes along with it. From the hotels, great restaurants, exploring new places, and meeting new people, I love a new adventure!
Do you have any funny memories or silly mishaps while visiting a different country or place?
The one memory that sticks out the most to me was from when I was little and my family and I went to Colorado for Christmas. It was the first time I had ever seen snow and snow skied. I was skiing down one of the mountains and just couldn’t stop so I flew past all of my family yelling for help but just kept going almost all the way to the parking lot until I hit a mound of snow that my skis stuck into. At the time I was a little traumatized but today I always laugh about it whenever I think about it!
What travel advice do you have for others?
The one piece of advice that I could give is to be stylish but comfortable! Comfort is key especially for those long trips because who wants to sit on a plane for 14 hours in some skin tight jeans and stilettos?!
How long does it take you to pack? Are you a backpacker or a complete matching luggage set kind of girl?
I am an extremely organized person so I have to make multiple packing lists before I even start to make sure that I don’t forget anything. Making the lists actually helps the packing process go pretty quickly cause you can just toss it in your suitcase and then check it off the list. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to pack. I’d say I’m more of the matching luggage kind of gal cause I just love traveling in style whether it be sitting in a car for hours or jet setting to a new place.
How do you stay stylish while traveling?
Comfort is key for me when it comes to traveling but I still like to be stylish as well. I love a comfy maxi dress or a distressed stretchy jean with a blousy top. Also comfortable shoes are a MUST for me. Whether in the car or taking a plane, I like being able to slip my shoes off easily and making sure they are comfortable for walking.
How would you describe your style? Do the places you travel to influence your style at all?
I would say my style is eclectic. I love trying new styles and experimenting with different looks. I do have my go to “comfy looks” which are always my fall back when I’m having an “everything looks awful on me” kind of day. I would say the different places I travel to do inspire my style. I like to put together certain looks for different trips.
What is your advice for all the women out there who want to starting living their passions whether that be blogging, styling, traveling, etc. but feel like they’re stuck?
For all the women who want to start living their passions and feel like they’re stuck, my advice would be to just go for it! You never know until you try something and if one person tells you no don’t let that get you down. Keep going for your dreams and don’t let anyone hold you back!
Do you have any upcoming travel plans?
I feel like this past year has been one trip after another, mostly for weddings or going to see family and those are some of the best trips to take! Over the next few months we have a trip to New Orleans to see my cousin walk down the aisle, a trip back to Tennessee for Thanksgiving, and then a trip to North Carolina for Christmas, so as you can see we are always on the go, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
What is your dream vacation – and what do you wear?!
My dream vacation is to go to an island such as Bali and to stay in one of the secluded resorts over the water. I just want to relax and dive into those crystal blue waters and just dream that I’m a mermaid and can live there forever! Ha Ha
Who inspires you most to reach for your dreams and why?
My parents have been the most supportive and have inspired me from day one to go after my dreams! They always tell me I can do anything I put my mind to and to go for it!
